CRIMSON is a Cape Town based band, the duo consisting of Darren Oelofse (vocals, rythym guitar) and Nathan Giloi (lead guitar). CRIMSON’s music falls under the acoustic-rock genre. The majority of our performances consist of classics and contemporary covers.
We cover music from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, from the likes of classics such as The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Dire Straights, Jim Croce, Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Sting, Van Morrison, Creedence Cleerwater Revival, Roy Orbison, Cat Stevens, Chubby Checker, and UB40 to contemporary hits which include 3 Doors Down, REM, Counting Crows, Lifehouse, John Mayer, Joshua Kaddison, Matchbox 20, Michael Bublé, Goo Goo Dolls, Oasis, Green Day, James Blunt, The Fray, Bob Sinclair, The Calling, NickelBack, Kings of Leon, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, and The Script.
CRIMSON make use of backing tracks which utilize drums, bass and other instruments. If the desired ambience of the venue is more relaxed, we then opt to use only acoustic guitars and vocals, for which we have been well received. We have performed at New Years events for crowds that want nothing else but upbeat dance music, which we have provided. We have also entertained quiet restaurants for Valentines Days seeking only easy listening, relaxed acoustic melodies, to which we were also well received. Our flexibility lends itself to any venue, theme or ambience. Be it a 21st Birthday, a 40th birthday, a corporate function, wedding, or private party, CRIMSON will not leave you disappointed.

Quay Four (V&A Waterfront), Dizzies Café (Camps Bay), Brass Bell (Kalk Bay), Cape Fish Company (Westlake), Railway House/Fogey’s (Muizenberg), Amici’s Italian (Westlake), Velvet Underground (Stellenbosch), Scrumpy Jacks (Observatory), RJ’s (Tygervalley), Barleycorn (Observatory), Cal’Caccio (Franschoek), Bobby Skinstad’s Toad in the Village (Noordhoek), Famous Butchers Grill (Westlake), Pirates (Plumstead), Tavern & Ale (Diepriver), and The Polana (Kalk Bay), Cafe Verdi (Wynberg), Diaz Tavern (Cape Town) and Ferrymans (V&A Waterfront), are among the venues.
We have also entertained Cape Town Harley Davidson Club where we provide live music for their club meetings and for tours, the Knysna Oyster Festival Rally, and Graaf-Reniet Desolation Rally being the most recent tours on which we have performed.
CRIMSON also took part in a Jose Quervo “Battle Of The Bands” , where 70 bands took to the stage at Quay Four, V&A Waterfront, over 4 months. The musicians who participated were brilliant, and the competition was stiff to say the least. CRIMSON were fortunate enough to make it to the TOP 5, and were greatly recieved throughout the competition.
